For the weekend of Remembrance Sunday, we could hardly have found anything more appropriate, emotional and poignant than Karl Jenkins’ phenomenally popular The Armed Man – a Mass for Peace<\/em>, paired with Durufl\u00e9’s exquisite Requiem<\/em>. Accompanied by the Liverpool Concert Orchestra, and with Barbara Ruszics as our soprano soloist, this will be a powerful concert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We had<\/strong> planned to return to Handel’s iconic Messiah<\/em> in March 2027 – but the Liverpool Phil are doing it a week before, and it seems silly to compete for audience. SO – have decided to revisit Elgar’s wonderful Dream of Gerontius<\/em>. We last sang it with Birkenhead Choral and Merchant Taylors’ School – at the Philharmonic Hall. This time we’re doing it on our own! After the success of our Verdi Requiem<\/em> using a specially arranged reduced orchestration, we’re doing the same with Gerontius<\/em>. It means you will hear the choir in all its glory – and we won’t break the bank!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Of course there’s also Carols with Brass<\/strong> in December, and in May we have Spring into Summer<\/strong> to round off another season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Last season was amazing – and who would have thought that the next one could better it?
