Formby Choral Society

2022 – 2023 Season

Concert Dates

All concerts are on Saturdays, and start at 19:30

19th November – Brahms Requiem
17th December – Carols with Brass
25th March – Handel Messiah
10th June –
Celebrate II

It’s great to be able to plan a ‘normal’ season again.

We start with Brahms Requiem in November, Carols (of course) in December, Handel’s iconic Messiah in March, and another “mixed bag” summer concert.

New members are always welcome.

Brahms’ Requiem – my all time favourite – I can’t wait. And then to think we’ve got Messiah too – what a fantastic season we’ve got coming up.

Celebrate II

This summer we will have a repeat of the formula of last year, hopefully with Formby Band, and certainly with plenty of flags!

Following the success of Celebrate last June, when we marked the Queens’ Platinum Jubilee, it seemed just too good an opportunity not to have Celebrate II to mark King Charles’ Coronation. More flag waving – I knew we needed to keep all those flags!

Brahms, and his famous beard, gives us his German Requiem to start the season. We shall be singing it in English … perhaps more for our benefit than that of the audience! We were due to sing this in November 2020, so the excitement is already rising.
And Handel’s Messiah makes a welcome return to Formby in March. We last sang it (only) in 2019, but that seems an age ago, so we are really looking forward to revisiting this amazing music.
