Formby Choral Society

About the Choir

Formby Choral Society is a very friendly choir. Whilst we aim to produce professional standard concerts, we are, in the true sense of the word, an amateur choir – singing for the love of it. And we have a great deal of fun and enjoyment in the rehearsals preparing for our concerts.

FCS began life back in 1966 when it started as an evening class run by Roger Golder. Since then we have performed concerts in Formby, Southport, Liverpool and further afield in Preston, and taken part in singing tours around several cities around Europe along with our friends from Birkenhead Choral Society.

We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 9:30 from September to May/June in Holy Trinity Church Hall, Rosemary Lane, Formby.

Concerts of major choral works are given in November and March – sometimes accompanied by an orchestra.
There is a carol concert in December with the Formby Band, and in May/June a concert which tends to vary in format from year to year.

We always welcome new members; so if you want to know a bit more about us … see the JOIN US page.
